Codex Retail

Offline-first retail checkout built with Rust, SQLite and TypeScript. It runs as an Ubuntu kiosk with receipt printers, scanners and cash drawers, and syncs from till to till.

Overview

What this product is for

Codex Retail is the retail system Codex Thrill runs in stores today. Each till keeps selling when the network drops, writes to a local SQLite database, and reconciles with other tills when connectivity returns. The counter application is a TypeScript interface on an Ubuntu kiosk. Rust services handle device I/O, durable local storage and till-to-till sync. Cashiers work in English or Arabic, and the till prices and settles in EUR, USD or SAR.

Retailers that need a counter which keeps taking sales during outages, with hardware that shop staff already understand: a receipt printer, barcode scanner and cash drawer.

Questions

Questions before a project conversation

Does Codex Retail need a constant internet connection?

No. The till writes the sale locally and syncs with other tills when the connection returns. A dead uplink should not stop the lane.

Which hardware does a lane need?

An Ubuntu kiosk PC, a receipt printer, a barcode scanner and a cash drawer. The device layer is part of the product, not an afterthought glued on later.

Which currencies and languages are supported?

The live tills sell in EUR, USD and SAR, and the cashier interface runs in English and Arabic.

Can another shop run the same checkout?

Yes. Codex Thrill can adapt catalogue, tax, receipt layout and hardware for another retailer. Start that conversation on WhatsApp or the contact page.
